Invested Employees

Workplace Whisperer intro and mission statement. (for everyone)

Welcome to the “Workplace Whisperer”: A blog meant to inspire, advise, entertain and inform those in the business world. This “virtual watercooler” was created by the team at C&S Business Solutions to be a consistent voice in the digital business arena, and to be an advocate for anyone working on improving their life in the “workplace”. Whether you are a founder/owner/boss, a seasonal worker/new hire, or somewhere in between, we hope you can find some commonalities within, and we hope to offer something positive for you to take away each week. While we aren’t about “whispering sweet nothings”; we would like to borrow your ear for a little bit. Here we go…

Invested Employees (for the bosses)

What makes a great employee? Is it a good attitude? Hard work and punctuality? Perhaps honesty and loyalty? The answer is none of those things at once, while being all of those things together. Does an employee like this seem like a gold plated unicorn, only to be found in mythical writings and never to be seen in person? While it’s not a fantasy, it’s something rarely seen.

The greatest attribute you can have within an employee is someone who is INVESTED. An invested person is someone who has bought in, someone who strives towards your team’s goal. When you have an invested employee, they will naturally carry a great attitude, while showing up on time and putting in good work. Their honesty and loyalty will be unshakeable, as they hope to achieve what you do. This person will lead by example, and take personally their own growth and development. This is not someone you have to “trick” or discipline into doing good work, this is someone who wants to show you what they are capable of on a regular basis. When you give them something to invest in, you give them hope and courage to do what’s needed, and an acknowledgement of their great efforts.

You may ask, “What can I give for investment?” It’s simple, you share the big picture. You look out for your people. You lead, rather than point. You join, rather than direct. Once you’ve taken this leap of faith and stopped any form of self destructive micro-management, watch how many of your people turn from good, to INVESTED. Now you’ve got gold plated unicorns running around all over the place! Great attitude? Check. Hard work and punctuality? Check, check. Honesty and integrity, well you get the picture…

Some food for thought…
